50-Year Flashback: Let’s check out some big moments from ATEQ’s history!
First Leak Testers (1975–1981)
ATEQ started up in France in 1975. Jacques Mouchet, a passionate engineer, designed the first tool in his basement. By 1981, ATEQ had its first line of leak testers for factory use. ATEQ France grew quickly, allowing the company to expand rapidly into other countries.
From day one, Jacques wanted to build company locations instead of relying on distributors. He wanted every customer to get the tools they needed, along with full support. This included selecting the right test method, setting things up, training, and keeping everything running.
Going Global and Focusing on Quality (1983–2003)
Between 1983 and 1985, ATEQ went international, expanding into Europe, North and South America, and Asia. In 1998, they became ISO 9001 certified, which was a huge accomplishment for their quality control.
Then, in 2003, ATEQ started its first ISO/IEC 17025 certified lab, which made their measurement and calibration skills even better.
Creation of New Divisions for Specific Markets (2004–2010)
ATEQ launched its TPMS division in 2004, followed by the Aviation division in 2008. In 2010, the company continued to strengthen its offering for the aeronautical sector.
Sixth-Generation Technology (2013)
In 2013, ATEQ rolled out its sixth-generation leak testers. They were faster, more steady, and more accurate to meet the highest standards in the industry.
E-Mobility and Emerging Sectors (2021–2022)
The E-Mobility division was created in 2021 to assist the rise in electric vehicles. In 2022, ATEQ got ISO 14001 certification, showing its commitment to environmental efforts.
Today, ATEQ is still creating custom tools for quickly expanding industries like data centers.
VIC Acquisition (2023)
In 2023, ATEQ bought VIC, adding complementary tracer gas technologies to its portfolio, to help manufacturers detect even the tightest leaks using gases such as helium or hydrogen for highly sensitive applications.
ATEQ Today: A Global Leader in Leak Testing
ATEQ started in France and is now the world leader in leak testing, helping the car, plane, tech, medical, data center cooling, and e-mobility industries. This 50-year history shows what ATEQ values most: coming up with new ideas and caring about its customers.
What’s Next: Seventh Gen of Leak & Flow Testers (2026)
ATEQ will be putting out its seventh generation of leak & flow testers around 2026. This new version will be easier to use, with a fresh look and touchscreen.
